One of the most annoying tropes in books and movies is the “misunderstanding that could be solved with one honest conversation.”
It can be frustrating when two characters clearly care about each other, but instead of simply communicating, they spend most of the story avoiding the truth, making assumptions, or believing a small misunderstanding.
Conflict is important for a good story, but when the entire plot depends on characters refusing to have a simple conversation, it can feel forced and predictable. Sometimes, the most satisfying storytelling is when characters communicate honestly and face their problems together.
