What’s a cultural tradition from another country that you wish existed in yours?
One cultural tradition from another country that I wish existed more widely in my own is the Danish concept of hygge. Hygge is centered on creating a sense of comfort, warmth, and togetherness through simple pleasures—such as sharing a meal with loved ones, enjoying a quiet evening by candlelight, or taking time to appreciate life’s small moments.
In today’s fast-paced world, many people are constantly focused on productivity and achievement, often overlooking the importance of slowing down and connecting with others. The hygge tradition encourages balance, mindfulness, and genuine human connection, reminding us that happiness is often found in everyday experiences rather than grand accomplishments.
I believe adopting more of this mindset could help reduce stress, strengthen relationships, and promote a greater sense of well-being within communities. It is a beautiful example of how a cultural tradition can positively influence both individual happiness and social harmony.
