What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.
One question I dislike being asked is, “Why haven’t you achieved more by now?” While it may sometimes be asked out of curiosity, the question often carries an assumption that success follows a single, predictable timeline. In reality, every individual’s journey is unique, shaped by personal circumstances, opportunities, and challenges that may not always be visible to others.
I find the question frustrating because it tends to reduce a person’s progress to a comparison with societal expectations rather than recognizing the value of growth, perseverance, and learning along the way. Achievement is not always measured by outward milestones alone; it is also reflected in resilience, character development, and the lessons gained from both success and failure.
Instead of focusing on what someone has not yet accomplished, I believe more meaningful conversations come from asking about a person’s goals, passions, or the experiences that have shaped their path. Such questions encourage reflection, understanding, and respect for the diverse ways people define success in their lives.
