Tell us about a time when you felt out of place.
There was a time I attended an event where almost everyone seemed to know each other, sharing inside jokes and conversations that flowed with ease. I stood there, smiling politely, but inside I felt completely out of place. I didn’t quite know what to say or how to join in. It was as if I had walked into a room that already had its rhythm, and I was out of step.
That moment taught me something valuable: sometimes feeling out of place is simply part of being human. We all encounter spaces where we don’t immediately belong. But instead of letting it discourage me, I realized it gave me a chance to observe, to listen, and to grow. Over time, I found small ways to connect—through a smile, a kind word, or a shared interest—and slowly the feeling of being out of place faded.
Looking back, I see that those moments remind me of the importance of patience, openness, and courage when stepping into new environments.
