One of the things I value most about my cultural heritage is the sense of community and togetherness it teaches. Traditions like sharing meals, celebrating milestones, and passing down stories connect me to generations before me. I’m also deeply proud of the values of respect, hospitality, and faith that are woven into everyday life—they remind me that culture isn’t just history, it’s something we carry forward in how we treat others. Exploring the music, food, and rituals from my heritage keeps me grounded, while also inspiring me to share these gifts with others.

    Wonderful! Those are powerful reflections and insights, reminding me of the wisdom found in our African heritage folktales and sayings, including one which reads: “Kuwanda kwakanaka kwakaipira kupedza muto …” which means: there is joy and abundance in helping and assisting one another in all spheres of life & working together; the only potential drawback or challenge is if there is also a presence of “egocentric” thinking which may spoil that vibe. However the proverb is uplifting. It is a Bantu language proverb. Its literal meaning is connected with ideas about communal living, sharing meals together, co-operative living and heritage conservation.
