If you had to give up one word that you use regularly, what would it be?
If I had to give up one word that I use regularly, it would probably be “busy.” I find myself saying it often—whether to explain my day, excuse my delay, or justify why something isn’t done yet. But truthfully, the word “busy” doesn’t always capture the reality of life. Sometimes I’m not just busy; I’m focused, productive, or even overwhelmed. Other times I’m simply choosing priorities.
Letting go of “busy” would push me to be more intentional with my language and more honest with myself. Instead of defaulting to “I’m busy,” I could say, “I’m prioritizing this right now,” or “I need a moment to rest.” That small shift could turn an automatic response into an opportunity for clarity, balance, and connection.
