Crispy Tofu with Garlic Ginger Sauce

At Comforttv.channel, we believe vegetarian meals should be just as satisfying and flavorful as any other dish. Today’s recipe highlights tofu, a protein-packed favorite that absorbs flavors beautifully. With a golden crispy coating and a savory garlic-ginger sauce, this dish is a true comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • ½ cup vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 spring onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Steamed rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu – Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes. Toss lightly in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Crisp it up – Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry tofu cubes until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce – In the same pan, add garlic and ginger. Sauté for 1 minute. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or maple syrup), and vegetable broth. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Bring it together – Return the tofu to the pan and toss in the sauce. Drizzle with sesame oil.
  5. Serve – Garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Comforttv.channel Tip

For extra flavor, marinate the tofu in soy sauce and ginger for 30 minutes before cooking. This gives it a deep, savory taste.
