Prompt: “Jessica writes a letter to her younger self. What does she say?”

Dear Younger Me,

You don’t know it yet, but everything you’re worried about right now — the way your voice shakes when you speak, the feeling of being too much and not enough at the same time — it all finds its place one day.

You think people don’t see you. That’s not true. They do. But more importantly, you will learn to see yourself. The real you. Not the girl who hides behind polite smiles and apologizes for everything — but the woman who one day walks into rooms and doesn’t need to prove a thing.

I want to tell you something important: you don’t need to have it all figured out. That pressure you feel to always have the answer, to be the best, to never mess up — let it go. Life isn’t about getting it right all the time. It’s about staying open to getting it real.

You’re going to make mistakes. Some will hurt. Some will sting more because you’ll see your reflection in them — the version of yourself you’re still trying to grow out of. But you’ll learn from each one. You’ll forgive yourself, eventually. And in doing so, you’ll learn how to forgive others, too.

There will be days when you feel invisible. When your ideas are overlooked, your voice is dismissed, and your efforts go unnoticed. Don’t let it harden you. Keep showing up anyway. The quiet strength you build on those days becomes the foundation for the woman you’ll become.

One day, you’ll design your own studio. You’ll build things you love with your own two hands. People will look to you for guidance — not because you shouted the loudest, but because you listened, created with care, and stayed true to your vision.

Also: You’ll fall in love. Maybe not in the way you imagined, but in the way you need. And you’ll learn that love — real love — doesn’t ask you to shrink, perform, or pretend.

I won’t spoil all the good parts. Some of them will surprise you. Some will break you open in the best way. Just promise me this — don’t trade your truth for anyone else’s comfort. Keep painting, keep asking hard questions, keep finding beauty in small things.

The world will try to rush you, label you, define you. Let it try. You know who you are. And every day, you’re becoming more of her.

With love,
Jessica
